Steve Jobs- The Teenage Icon

Steve Jobs the co founder and CEO of Apple and Pixar is the most respected and admired entrepreneur amongst the teenagers in U.S. A survey conducted by Junior Achievement rated him above celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Mark Zuckerberg, Tony Hawk, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

He firmly believes that, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”

And it was this quest for innovation which was always the driving force behind him. Apple, iPod, Pixar, and Next are his contributions to the world. His innovations have changed the face of the world and affected the lives of millions.

At the age of 21, Steve founded the Apple Computer Company in 1976, in his garage. It was here that he made his first computer which was sold for $666.66 and by 1980 three more improved versions of Apple were launched in the market by him. It was a wild success which made him a millionaire although a tiff at Apple led to his resignation.

He then ventured into hardware industry. Result? A new company, called the NeXT step and a new product, the NeXT Computer. It was a commercial washout. He then started Pixar Inc. and produced animated movies which made him the most sought after in Hollywood. He has films like, Toy story, A Bug’s Life, Toy story 2, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo and the Incredibles, all time favorites in animated films, to his credit.

After Pixar, it was the music industry. The iPod and iPhone his new creations brought about a revolution followed by iTunes a digital jukebox, a craze the world over. With so many feathers in his cap and so much for the Gen- Next, he is bound to be the most respected and sought after icon amongst teenagers. And by choosing Jobs over Oprah the young teenagers have clearly shown their choice of science over showbiz.
