Dwayne Michael Carter, better known as Lil Wayne the American rapper and Grammy Award Winner pleaded guilty for criminal possession of a weapon for which he might be sentenced to one year jail.
Lil Dwayne once mentioned on a TV News channel that he enjoyed Marijuana. He has often been arrested for possessing drugs. He belongs to that gang of rappers, who believe in maintaining hefty criminal records to build up their street credit.
On July 22 2007, as they were returning after a performance at the Beacon Theatre, the NYPD caught Lil Wayne and a friend of his smoking marijuana. They were immediately taken into custody, soon after that the police also found a loaded.40-caliber semi-automatic in his possession. He was arrested for two offences simultaneously.
All this time he had been pleading non guilty but now has changed his version. By doing this he has avoided a trial which was to be held in January 2010 wherein proved guilty he would have to serve three to three and a half years in prison.
He has now pleaded guilty for possessing a weapon for which he might get a year.
According DJ Khaled, “He’s a brother and he’s helped so many people. He’s helped so many people, the public, [his] city. Musically, he’s helped other artists. He’s just a great person on the whole.”
If that is the case then, his goodness may reduce his sentence from I year to 8 to 10 months.
As of now he is on bail, and his fans are waiting for his new hip hop LP and much delayed album, Rebirth .
