Cyber Cafes are a popular
a hub for all kinds of activities. Bomb threats, Hoax Mails, hate mails or any such nefarious activity can be very easily executed from such places as the culprits cannot be traced easily. The IT Act has asked the cyber cafes to maintain a record of all the customers but it is more of a hassle as they might lose customers if they go by the rules.
So what follows is an unending spree of despicable, reprehensible, activities, which keep the police and the management on their toes. And the culprits move scot-free.
But now, cyber criminals beware! As your days are numbered. A private company in Bangalore has come up with a unique software, which can maintain a digital record of the details of all the people who visit the café, along with their photographs.
The company ‘Ideacts Innovations’, has provided this software, ‘Click- Cyber Café Manager’, to all the cyber cafes owners free of cost. By creating a database of all the customers, tracking down any threats or any illegal activity being conducted there, like hoax mails or bomb threats, etc. will become very easy.
The Bangalore East division police held a meet along with the proprietors of Ideact Innovations, in which around 200 cyber café owners were invited. During this meet, Joint Commissioner Alok Kumar of the Crime branch who presided over this meet, said that “cyberspace security is now an important facet of law enforcement.” As amongst the various internet access points, cyber cafes still cover around 47% of them. Hence the need for a comprehensive management becomes all the more imperative.
He also added, “According to the IT Act 2000, and the state IT Act, it is mandatory for a cyber-cafe owner to take down name, address, contact details and a photo identity. If any owner does not maintain these records and if the law-enforcement authorities finds about it, they can be fined up to Rs 25,000.”
The free software, ‘Click Cyber Café Manager’ will help the café owners to create a user ID, with all the relevant and comprehensive information and photo Identity of the users, which can be maintained for a longer duration.
So ‘Auf Weidersehen’, (good-bye) to cyber criminals and cyber crimes.
