There could not have been a better date for the commencement of the 16th International Children’s Film Festival than the 14th of November, the Children’s Day.The week long festival will screen 70 films from various countries at the IMAX theatre and 8 different venues in Hyderabad and Secundrabad, although the inaugural and concluding ceremonies will be held at ‘Lalitkala Thoranam.’
This Children’s Film Festival is marked with a difference. For the first time the visually challenged kids will also participate in the festival. Special screenings, withefficient commentators have been arranged for their assistance.
Around 250 child delegates from all over the country will participate in the festival.
Besides watching the best of films the children will also enjoy site seeing, as special arrangements have been made by the tourism department to provide the ‘delegates’ with tourism information kits.
The function will be graced by eminent personalities like the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni who is the chief guest, distinguished film maker and lyricist Gulzar and prominent Hindi and Telugu film personalities.
Child achievers at the National and State level will also be felicitated.
Nandita Das, the chairperson has introduced innovative features like the Golden Elephant in the Asian segment for the first time.
Besides watching films, children will attend workshops, and open for all debates.
The entire schedule was announced by Information and Public Relations’ Minister J Geetha Reddy.
With so much in store for them, the children are definitely going to have ‘A children’s week out!’
