For someone who has seen both sides of the marriage, this interview does not come too much as a surprise nevertheless it hits the headlines as she has always maintained silence on this issue. For those who have not been following the news about her husband John Edwards, former presidential candidate’s torrid affair with Rielle Hunter, a videographer who came as a shock to many, Elizabeth still maintains that her thirty one year marriage to this man is still on.
Denying reports of their alleged separation after John’s confession of his affair, Elizabeth said it was quite difficult to accept the fact when he confessed. “When he broke the news I felt threw up. What was even more difficult to digest was the fact that he (Edward) and I are very conservative. Ironically, thirty one years before I married, I had asked him a wedding gift. It was simple but it meant a lot to me. I simply asked him to be faithful to me” And unfortunately that did not happen especially at a time when she is battling with terminal breast cancer. Nearing mortality she says is a “very weird emotion as we all want to be a part of the next family yet we have to leave a part of the existing family here”.
Speaking more about the affair she says it was all planned by “that woman”, refusing to acknowledge her by her first name. “She knew it was John all along. She is even believed to have confirmed it with the receptionist at the hotel where he was staying. When John went out for dinner and got back, she was waiting for him at the hotel” she said “You are hot”. Fuelled by his confession a year later, the media was ripe with the news about this affair. There were even rumours about his fathering hunter’s child which he denied. “I am not too sure that is his child. She does not look like any of our children. I would like to believe that it is not his child”
