Madonna’s Adoption Case is catching up even more fire. The Malawi court began deliberating on the singer’s bid to legally adopt the three year of girl, Chifundo. The girl Madonna is intending to adopt is from a southern African country. The man, James Kambewa, is trying to refrain this adoption, is suspected to be the girl’s biological father. Madonna was reportedly in a closed-door hearing at the Malawi’s high court on Monday. The judgment however, is not expected soon. This is Madonna’s answer to the lower court’s judgment denying her the adoption of the three year old girl, the reason of adoption denial is that she is not screened by Malawi authorities over time.
The court added by pointing out the fact around Madonna’s son’s adoption. It claimed that the rules were staked when she adopted David (Madonna’s adopted son) last year from Malawi.
Alan Chinula, Madonna’s lawyer at the Malawi court is hopeful that they would win at the Malawi court, as she adds the reason of adoption denial to Madonna was due to the reliance on the outdated laws considered at the lower court.
The 50 year old pop star sported the girl at Kondanani Children’s Village in 2006, at Bvumbwe, a southern town to the capital of Blantyre. This was the same year that she adopted her son David.
James Kambewa blocking the 3 year old girl’s adoption is claiming to be the girl’s father; he reviled this to The Associated Press. He asked for help to stop the adoption form the Malawi Law Society on the same basis. Despite James Kambewa being poor, is claiming the custody of his daughter as his right. However, Chifundo’s mother’s brother denies knowing James Kambewa, as the reason why Chifundo was put into the orphanage was because there was no one to take care off her. Peter Baneti further adds that he as the representative of the family has agreed for Chifundo’s adoption where as James Kambewa is trying to reap gains from the situation.
Liz Rosenberg who is Madonna’s spokeswoman through an email communicated their dobts about James Kambewa being the father. She stated that the only thing they knew about Mercy (Chifundo) was that she has been in the orphanage from the time she was born.
James Kambewa, has been interviewed by multiple channels and he is been heard claiming for Chifundo’s custody. On one of the shows he was spotted wearing a necklace which said Chifundo.
Madonna on the other hand has stated “Raising Malawi” a charity initiative that would educate, feed and provide medical assistance & care for Malawi’s orphans.
