This was the first time during an interview Ryan O’Neal spoke to PEOPLE about his partner, Farrah Fawcett. He almost had tears in his eyes while speaking about his long time pal. He seemed really concerned about Farrah Fawcett’s illness as she is combating cancer for the last 2 and half years.
Farrah Fawcett, now 62 was an American actress. She was one of the most desired women in the 1970s and 1980s. Her hairstyle was imitated by the youth of America at that time. Ryan O’Neal, now 68, claims to not know his world with out Farrah Fawcett. He right now is playing the role of a caretaker around Farrah Fawcett. He seems to have been equally moved by her devastating illness. Cancer being an insidious disease was affecting Farrah Fawcett, as Ryan O’Neal had never spoken around her anal cancer being spread to the other parts of her body, even her liver. He said that doctors confirm that she is in a comfortable state however the medication is almost discontinued. Farrah Fawcett reportedly stays in bed.
On a two hour documentary on NBC, Farrah Fawcett herself tells her tale through the illness. Stewart says that this was never met to come out the way it did. As Farrah Fawcett carried her hand camera just like that to the visit to the doctor and it was fate that the same day the doctor spoke of her illness. Stewart said the Farrah Fawcett didn’t let me to stop recording as she said that people should know what a person goes through when the news of you being diseased by cancer breaks.
Ryan O’Neal, talks about the courage Farrah Fawcett has shown during. The dignity and courage that she has shown fighting with the insidious disease is simply commendable. He mentions six trips to Germany where she was undergoing treatment by Dr. Ursula Jacob at the Alpenpark Clinic. He talked of the promises that were made of Farrah getting better, and there was a time that the actress was feeling that better that she started to play tennis as well. Sadly, half way in the trip her health started to deteriorate, she continued to fight despite the fading hopes of her well being.
Ryan O’Neal concluded by saying that he has to really struggle to keep his hopes alive. Where as Farrah, despite her condition has never spoken of things being hard to her. She is still positive that if God has put her through this, there would be some thing positive about it. O’Neal wasn’t too sure of Farrah’s cancer bringing any thing positive to her.
