Leonardo and Kate
Titanic sank in 1912, if one couldn’t read about the grand ship that was believed to be unsinkable, and then one must have seen the movie Titanic staring Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet where, Rose (Kate) survived the tragedy and Leonardo DiCaprio died with the sinking ship.
The last scene of the movie could bring tears in the eyes of many. In fact, while watching the movie, it was noticed that the audiences where stunned and silent to see the tragedy of many dying and the unsinkable ship sinking.
The last actual survivor of the tragedy is Millvina Dean, who then was just a 9 week old infant. She is 97 now. She is getting help from the stars of the movie.
As confirmed by Access Hollywood, $30,000 fund has been raised by Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet with James Cameron, the director of the movie for the last survivor of the ship.
The Irish Independent had an appeal by Don Mullan, a photographer in the Sunday News paper regarding financially assisting Millvina Dean, as she was struggling with here payables to the nursing home.
Don Mullan appealed to the director and the starts of the movie to extend help for Dean’s nursing home bills. She was supposedly the youngest on the ship, who traveled from Southampton, England boarding the ill fated ship.
Don Mullan, the photographer has been even raising funds by himself for Millvina Dean by selling the Dean’s shots saying “Still Surviving”. He had gotten her signatures on the shots. These shots were sold as limited edition. It is then he decided to extend appeal to the stars of Titanic to help him raise funds. “A Thousand Reasons for Living.” Is an exhibition that he is been a part of.
What Don Mullan did was really heart touching. There are not many people who would do something like that for a stranger. Raising funds by selling Millvina Dean’s hand signed shots was quite a way to settle her nursing home bill. Appealing to the stats of Titanic was a witty thing to do. When he was asked about this he said that he though he would be able to financially secure the last survivor for a complete year in case he gets successful selling the limited edition shots. The exhibition was an attempt to double the impact, so that instead of one he could secure Millvina Dean for two years. He added that he is waiting for Celine Dion to respond. Celine Dion was the singer of the famous track, “My Heart Will Go On,” that had an inclusion in the movie.
