Spectacles For Translation?

Scientific Research has progressively made life much easier and comfortable for all of us. Modern devices have eliminated the hurdles of communication and interaction. One such hurdle is language which has been overcome by ‘Communication Access Real-Time Translation’(CART) which is used in voicewriting.

This software recognizes speech and immediately translates the spoken text into a written text.

NEC has used this technique to make spectacles that can simplify the spoken language by translating it into subtitles. The gadget looks like a pair of specs without lenses. It has a headset with a tiny projector which displays images on the user’s retina. It translates the conversation between two people speaking different languages.

This gadget which is called a Tele Scouter was introduced to help people in sales, interact with customers who spoke different languages. With this aid they could learn the purchase history of their client, which beamed before them, as they conversed.

It can also being used as a translation aid. The microphone on the headset picks up the conversation and with the help of CART, translates it and sends it back to the headset. As the conversation goes on, it is translated and the subtitles are beamed on to the retina, maintaining a smooth conversation.

This gadget can be very useful during confidential talks, where the presence of a translator is more of a hindrance.

Mr. Takayuki Omino the spokesperson of NEC informed that the ‘Tele Scouter’ will be launched in Japan in 2010, without the translation feature. The second version with subtitles will be launched in 2011.

A set of 30 headsets excluding the price of the translation software, will cost around 7.5 yen or 50,000 pounds.

Cruze-ing Time Comes

With a spectacular launch at Taj West End on Wednesday, the long awaited Chevrolet Cruze finally arrived in its entire splendor, setting aside all speculations that General Motors had postponed the launch to 2011.

With interiors that spell class, style and authority, Chevrolet Cruze is a larger car, with essential accessories, advanced technique and innate features. Its unique push button feature starts or stops the car at a touch.

During the launch, Karl Slym, President and Managing Director, General Motors India, said, “Cruze is the first product from our third-generation 300 series of vehicles. All our future products in India will be a part of the new series.”

Now the elimination of bonuses at the troubled automaker prevents Press from repaying a personal loan. Today Press is reportedly facing $1.35 million of unpaid federal taxes and a personal loan.

Suwichada Busamrong Press and her husband bought a 6,900-square-foot mansion using a $2.2 million mortgage. That house is now on the market with a tax lien of $947,000 related to unpaid income taxes for 2007, according to a filing in late August.

With the ever growing funds that the American Idol show is making every one think. Despite the fact that the audiences for the show is shrinking but the same is not reflected in the revenue figures for the show.

The way the show is created and how it is progressing, in no time the outlook of the broadcasters and networking agencies would deem to change. Clearly, as per the records of the last three years American Idol has been losing viewers but still it is the top rated television serial.

The show is apparently earning from other deal that it has with ice cream, trading cards, iTunes partnerships, and AT&T. These deals have considerably pooled in for the American Idol profitability.

The financial statements of the 19 Entertainment being the parent company revealed the same.

Brad Adgate, Horizon Media’s senior vice president for research says that the show is raking in money. He also said that there are many ways other than advertising to earn from a TV show. It is just that American Idol has a better way of making money.

From the co-chairman of NBC, Ben Silverman to the programmers of MTV, who are trying to do every thing possible to increase the profits for the show, it seems that American Idol is taking the lessons of making money from National Football League rather than from traditional broadcasting book.

The chief executive of CKX Inc. Robert F. X. Sillerman commented that they have learned from the sports league and added that what we see as money inflow from the show is just the beginning. David Lunar, from Fremantle Media are co-producing the show with 19 Entertainment said that their company has seen tremendous growth this year that could have been the submission of eight years together.

As per the survey the viewer count for the show has decreased by 5 millions per episode. For this season, the average viewer count per episode is 25 millions. Advertising revenue has been increasing ever since the American Idol has started. Fox Broadcasting is the one that benefits form this advertising money.

The rating for the show has declined but the time American Idol is aired is increased by the Fox Broadcasting, hence, been able to charge more. The profits & revenue of the 19 Entertainment has even grown with a better pace than ever. From American Idol alone they have earned $96 million as compared to $67 million from the last two years.

Michael Jackson’s 1st show in the last 15 years, at the London’s O2 Arena; it is anticipated that he could earn more that $50 millions from this much awaited 50 show stand.

There were even rumours about his fathering hunter’s child which he denied. “I am not too sure that is his child. She does not look like any of our children. Claims by Woody Allen for Putting His Image on the Billboard

Woody Allen the known actor & director, in New York asked the judge to cease a clothing company from making his wife and his Mia fallow to get on the witness stand to defend for the Woody Allen’s image they used on the billboard without a prior permission.

Allen in filled papers at the U.S. District Court in Manhattan against the Los Angeles-based American Apparel Inc, suing them for $10 million after the company has used his image without his prior permission on its billboard in New York & Hollywood and also on a website. He stated that asking for Farrow; Soon-Yi Previn (his adopted daughter) and others to stand against him in the witness stand is simply an attempt to intimidate him. The trail is due this week only.

Against the allegation Woody Allen had, Stuart Slotnick the American Apparel lawyer said that he wants to draw the attention towards Woody Allens’ relationship with his daughter and wife to make a point that he is not worth the $10 million claim that he is asking for. He wants Farrow and Previn to be on the witness stand so that he could break the illusion of Woody Allen’s billboard appearance worth.

Farrow is an actress and did movies for Allen however, their relationship ended in 1992. And there after Woody Allen was romantic with Previn. Farrow during the custody fight accused Woody Allen of abusing their adopted daughter sexually, who was just 7 years old then.

Previn, on Monday stated in the court papers, that such unproven allegations are noting but an attempt to mislead the jury from the main focus of the case. Allen also commented on the company’s sudden plan to call the witnesses, as the same wasn’t disclosed on the onset of the case. He testified that he did want to be associated with American Apparel Inc advertising as he considered it to be infantile and sleazy.

American Apparel’s lawyer, Slotnick is basically using the sex scandals around Woody Allen’s personal life and has an intention to prove that some one with such stories is not worth endorsing American products. Hence the image that the company has used, if any, didn’t even require permission. As clearly it was not a product endorsement.

There is no official news for any settlements; however, there were hints sent across by the lawyer that they are open to avoid the trial. The company has apologized as well.

An alternate Miss California is appointed filling in for the Carrie Prejean by the pageant officials who are now frustrated. The alternate for Miss California was appointed on Monday. Every thing started when Carrie Prejean being the Christian beauty queen risked her crown by her views about gay marriage, saying that she was anti it. The fire got worse when her topless shoot photos were exposed. The executive directors of Miss California USA, Donald Trump said that they were left with no other choice but to have some one else to represent that Golden State. The controversies regarding Prejean, 21, were too empowering.

Donald Trump, had called for a press conference on Tuesday to announce if Carrie Prejean after pageant financed breast implant, anti gay statement and topless snaps could keep the Miss California title or not.

Keith Lewis who is the co-executive director of the Miss California USA pageant made it very clear at the conference that Tami Farrell who was the Miss California USA runner up would fill in for Carrie Prejean in case she is unavailable or if she is deemed not fit otherwise. He said that noting is decided as such, it’s for Donald Trump to decide. Farrell, the runner up is expected to automatically wield the inheritance of the crown in case it is denied to Carrie Prejean.

Carrie Prejean on the other hand is claiming that she stands by what she said and she has that right to state her mind. Being and saying what she feels about a specific thing is her constitutional right. With the controversies, she is saying that the answer has cost her the Miss USA Crown. Having a point of view is the right of every American and she is disturbed to see the cost that she had to pay excising that right.

She could be seen in various commercials and TV shows opposing gay marriages. The same sex wedding is legal in 5 US states however not in California. Her comments regarding the same – sex wedding came at a very wrong time. The topic was in debate during the same time in California, that is the reason why it gained the momentum that it did.

Keith Lewis, co-executive director of the Miss California USA pageant, said that the pageant has violated her contract as she was operating independently. There were situation, where in it was difficult to contact her because of the new attorneys she had. Not only this according to Lewis, she had missed certain scheduled appearances as Miss USA. And most of it as she going ahead with the interviews regarding her views, as the idea is that she should honor the title by bringing people together rather than creating fiction.
