Not many people would be able to digest the fact that this year marks the 25th year of Tom Hank’s association with the acting profession. He was noticed in “Splash” and also contributed his acting talent that wasn’t noticed that well in Bachelor Party and He Knows You’re Alone in 1980.

With the success that “Splash” saw, it was clear that Tom Hanks was not a one film wonder star of “Bosom Buddies” he was an actor who could carry a movie on his own acting talent. Bachelor Party wasn’t that great a hit, but it showed that Tom could have his own version of sardonic humor that could turn the movie 360 degrees, delivering more than what the audiences would have expected of him. There after he took roles that were lighter and more comic. He also did the darker & dramatic roles as well.

The movie “Big” revealed the child side of the actor, where as “Punchline” revealed his comedic abilities. In 1986, in the movie “Nothing in Common,” gave hints of anger beneath the jokey façade breezy character that he played. “You’ve Got Mail” work of Tom was appreciated especially this facial expression that made certain tense situations in the movie smoother, the upturning eyebrow or the spin badly written straw added to the comedy.

As compared to his work from earlier films that were lighter and fun he has turned a little serious it seems. The last summer’s movie called “The Dark Knight,” demonstrated a more serious side of the actor. Then “Toy Story” movies where he wasn’t seen though, came as if Tom Hanks has retired from the comedy arena forever. And there after there have been some movies that has not seen that funny side of the actor.

He has been seen in more intense drama like The Da Vinci Code and the latest Angels & Demons that has attracted the attention of the Vatican as well. Not to mention the sky mounting controversies first around The Da Vinci Code where the movie was accused to spread wrong messages regarding Jesus Christ being married and being the father of a child. Some thing similar is anticipated to be witnessed in the latest that is awaiting release on the 15th of this month, though it was premiered in Rome. The movie is based on the novel called Angels & Demons, written by Dan Brown. Ron Howard being the director and Ayelet Zurer being the co-cast with Tom Hanks; and the actor Ewan McGregor plays a catholic operative. Lets’ see would this turn out to be his 25th Anniversary Gift.
